Alpha Phi strives to create an inclusive, welcoming environment that focuses on the mental health and well-being of our sisters through community building, education, and awareness. In Alpha Phi we celebrate each members unique identity and culture while understanding our differences are what are what makes us an amazing sisterhood. Through DEI education initiatives such as our Feeling Phi committee which focuses on spreading mental health awareness and our partnership with Women’s shelters in the greater Oxford Community, we aim to inspire our sisters to be activists and amplify the voices of marginalized communities. We are so excited to be introducing this fall DEI dinner parties which will focus on one culture/region/country where we can come together to connect over delicious cultural foods, speak about current world affairs and engage in meaningful conversations. Finally, we are proud to be one of the first chapters on campus to have our VP of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion sit on our Executive Board rather than hold a Director position.

KAPPA DELTA
Chapter DEI Initiatives:
-
Identity exploration: Our biggest focus in KD is identity exploration. We are huge on building confidence, and by exploring our own identities, we are able to learn more about ourselves and our peers. We explore identities like race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, family life, religion, gender, etc. In the future, we hope to implement more identity exploration workshops.
-
Celebrating diversity: Another initiative of ours is celebrating diversity. We want to educate our members about diverse holidays, events, and cultures so that they can learn more about those around them. It is essential to us that we are supporting our sisters of all varying backgrounds.
-
Prioritizing Health: In KD we put a great emphasis on mental health. We achieve and practice this through suicide awareness ribbon pass outs, mental health check-ins, chapter presentations and workshops, as well as providing members with mental health resources.
