ALPHA DELTA PI

Legacy Policy: A legacy is a sister, daughter, or granddaughter of an initiated member of Alpha Delta Pi. The chapter will not be required to invite legacies back to the first invitational round of primary recruitment. Legacies who attend the final preference party will be placed on the chapter’s final bid list like all other invited PNMs per the NPC Policy. There will be no preference given to PNMs on the final bid list based on legacy status.

Recommendation Policy: Recommendations are a helpful resource for our recruitment team aside from your recruitment application.

  • Letters of recommendation may be submitted by ADPi alumnae. To submit, visit alphadeltapi.org, click the "Alumnae" tab, then go to "Recommend a Potential New Member."

  • Additionally, all PNMs are encouraged to fill out the “Introduce Yourself” survey found on our Alpha Delta Pi main page. PNMs may attach a photo, resume, and personal letter if desired. https://alphadeltapi.org/page/potentialmemberintroduction/

  • Chapters will not be required to invite legacies back to the first invitational round of primary recruitment.

  • Legacies who accept an invitation to the final preference party, like all PNMs who attend our preference party, must be placed on the chapter’s final bid list per the NPC Policy. This means that legacies do not have to be placed at the top of the bid list.

  • If a legacy is released, the Alumnae Advisory Committee (AAC) should contact the AOII relative via telephone or email as a courtesy to inform the AOII relative of the legacy’s release.

Chapter DEI Initiatives:

  • Alpha Phi strives to create an inclusive, welcoming environment that focuses on the mental health and well-being of our sisters through community building, education, and awareness. In Alpha Phi we celebrate each members unique identity and culture while understanding our differences are what are what makes us an amazing sisterhood. Through DEI education initiatives such as our Feeling Phi committee which focuses on spreading mental health awareness and our partnership with Women’s shelters in the greater Oxford Community, we aim to inspire our sisters to be activists and amplify the voices of marginalized communities. We are so excited to be introducing this fall DEI dinner parties which will focus on one culture/ region/country where we can come together to connect over delicious cultural foods, speak about current world affairs and engage in meaningful conversations.

CHI OMEGA

Legacy Policy: Chi Omega defines a legacy as a sister or a daughter of a Chi Omega in good standing. Granddaughters, cousins, and nieces of Chi Omegas have close ties but are not Chi Omega legacies. Being designated as a Chi Omega legacy does not guarantee membership in Chi Omega.

  • If there are problems utilizing this website, then any letters of recommendation can be sent to the Recruitment Chair, Gina Fulton at fultongc@miamioh.edu.

Legacy Policy: While we recognize and celebrate legacy relationships when family members join our sisterhood, Tri Delta does not give preferential treatment to those with family connections/legacies during the recruitment process. Recommendation Policy: "Tri Delta members may complete a reference form, which is an additional method for providing information to collegiate chapters on a potential new member. Submissions will be sent directly to the collegiate chapter. While references are no longer required for membership in Tri Delta, they do help to identify women who are interested in Tri Delta membership. KAPPA ALPHA THETA

Legacy Policy: Kappa Alpha Theta has eliminated all preferential treatment given to legacies during the recruitment process.

Recommendation Policy: References are introductions; they are not required for Theta membership, and having a reference does not guarantee an invitation to the second recruitment round. You may submit a reference if you are an alumna member of the Fraternity or an active member of a chapter different than the one that a potential new member is seeking to join. Theta Nationals asks that all potential new member references be submitted using the online reference form. Again, recommendation letters are not required, but are still accepted!

Other Initiatives: 

  • Plan and executive events, speakers and tactics to broaden the chapter’s exposure to current events, topics and issues.

  • Create presentations, newsletters, and plan guest speakers to foster a welcoming environment to further the chapter’s understanding of DEI topics, understandings, viewpoints, and concerns.

  • Reduce the stigma surrounding mental health and providing support for all members in our sorority and at Miami University.

  • Identity exploration: Our biggest focus in KD is identity exploration. We are huge on building confidence, and by exploring our own identities, we are able to learn more about ourselves and our peers. We explore identities like race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, family life, religion, gender, etc. In the future, we hope to implement more identity exploration workshops.

  • Celebrating diversity: Another initiative of ours is celebrating diversity. We want to educate our members about diverse holidays, events, and cultures so that they can learn more about those around them. It is essential to us that we are supporting our sisters of all varying backgrounds.

  • Promote body inclusivity! We partnered with Hillel for a workshop on Diet Culture and also created infographics around the suite to promote body inclusivity.

  • Start using a whiteboard in chapter suite to showcase a variety of DEI topics and events.

  • Sending out monthly newsletters to inform the chapter of current and relevant DEI topics.
