Associate Chapters FAQ

Miami University's Panhellenic Council has one Associate Chapter, Sigma Lambda Gamma. This chapter is offered the same benefits as the other Panhellenic chapters at Miami University. This chapter participates in Greek Week, Panhellenic Pride Week, all other Panhellenic sponsored events, while receiving an opportunity to join a close-knit sisterhood. Below are a few frequently asked questions.

What does “Associate Chapter” mean?
The term “associate” simply means that this organization has a national organization that is NOT part of the National Panhellenic Conference.

Do I have to register for Formal Recruitment to rush this chapter?
No. Since Sigma Lambda Gamma is not affiliated with the formal recruitment process, you do not have to register or pay a fee to participate in their recruitment. Sigma Lambda Gamma has a different recruitment process, therefore the dates for their recruitment may vary from Formal Recruitment dates.

What are some differences about an associate chapter?
The biggest difference is in chapter size.

Are there any requirements for being in an associate chapter?
Sigma Lambda Gamma, along with all chapters at Miami has it’s own requirements.  Any potential new members will learn about these requirements during their recruitment process.
